POSITION SUMMARY
The Outfitting Designer is responsible for leading a Design Team for the full 3D model development and extraction of complete Manufacturing Information (MI) to support production at the customers shipyard. Including foundations, equipment, joiner, marine structures, and prepare detail drawings for the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Because TotalTek is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
  • Responsible for providing organizational expertise and leadership to define program technical requirements, CAD modelling develop processes/standards, quality standards, and discipline design development strategies and/or plans.
  • Lead and drive discipline design team to produce integrated 3D models and Manufacturing Information (MI), and support programs through production, test, verification, and in-service support
  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Responsible for 3D modeling of marine structures, and components associated with ship specifications, shipbuilding standards, and regulatory body requirements.
  • Create and develop production/fabrication drawings of the outfitting (i.e. arrangements, assembly drawings and etc..).
  • Responsible for identifying dimensions and materials in the production drawings.
  • May require drafting drawings/sketches in 2D for production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience: Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology or similar field of study, plus five years drafting/design experience preferable in the Marine (outfitting/structural) field desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Working knowledge/experience with structure, systems equipment arrangements, system diagrams, and 3D modeling of the noted areas required.
Skills: Proficiency in ShipConstructor (preferred) or similar software such as AVEVA, NUPAS CADMATIC or similar CAD/CAM software required. Strong working experience with AutoCAD (2D/3D) drafting using AutoCAD (2014 or later) required. Intermediate level MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook experience required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, display an attention for detail, and function as a team player.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required.
