This positions work is primarily involved with development or improvement of actual products or design. Work may include creation of non-existing product or modification of existing products, including product line extensions. Work includes selection and testing materials or components that will be suitable for the product. Work may include responding to a customer request for a particular product or design. The typical cycle includes discovery, concept, developing prototypes, testing and perfecting design. It will also include testing to validate existing design changes.  This position requires knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles, basic concepts and procedures. They are able to create solutions from both formal training and experience. Work is varied in nature. Under general direction, the employee will plan and perform engineering duties. They may provide work direction to technicians and less experienced engineers.


The Mechanical Design Engineer’s major role is the development of new product models. Must be able to produce results and support team-oriented environment with mindset to do what it takes to create reliability and quality into products. Ideal candidates will have a strong analytical background in physics, fluid dynamics, structural analysis, statistical capabilities and a good understanding of plastic and rubber molding design and processes.
  •  Produce designs that meet performance, cost and manufacturability of goals.
  • Perform or assist with design, layouts and detailing of engineering drawings.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing engineering computations, product cost estimates, prototype builds and design documentation.
  • Conduct product verification, competitive testing of products and associated data.
  • Dynamic structural analysis (mold analysis, Finite Element Analysis, component/material selections).
  • Provide first level review of CTQ’s (Criticals to Quality) providing a high level QA on standard nomenclature, standard dimensional tolerances, GC&T and fit and function analysis.
  • Lead DOE (Design of Experiments), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and participate in PFEMA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) projects.
  • Very strong decision-making and problem-solving ability (analysis and troubleshooting).
  • Position requires flexibility, the ability and mentality to assume “cradle to grave” responsibility for projects and see them through completion.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Utilizes or design test equipment to provide product verification, validate product requirements and conduct competitive testing.
  • May interface with customers to ensure product/component performance to customer specifications and to appropriate standards.

  • Personnel – in addition to the technical experts, applications team and engineering team, this position works with sales and operations personnel to meet customer needs.

  • Sales/marketing administrative support.
  • Manufacturing in all locations.
  • Product Test Laboratory & Quality/Materials Laboratory.

The successful candidate will have a blend of experience for this position:
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and push hard to meet deadlines.
  • Sound understanding design and application of molding manufacturing processes.
  • Must be fluent with 3-D CAD, preferably in SolidWorks

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Mechanical, Industrial, Material, Plastics, Rubber) Engineering
