Position Overview:
Lean Manufacturing Manager– Fabrication, leads and manages multiple value streams supporting
manufacturing goals and lean execution strategies improving the operations and processes within
manufacturing. The Manufacturing Manager will manage, direct, plan and coordinate (through Value
Stream Managers & Leads) daily manufacturing activities of fabrication and finishing operations across
all shifts to meet plant objectives, and customer satisfaction.

Main responsibilities also include meeting organizational safety, quality, budget, and value
streams/department goals and making employment and staffing decisions. Interprets and manages
the implementation of value stream policies and programs including good manufacturing practices
aimed to meet industry standards and ISO requirements. Ensures personnel achieve high level of
cross training and skills development using ladders of progression. This position will determine value
stream capacities and effect of production load changes and take appropriate actions to manage
resources to meet production requirements. This position will also assure capital equipment and
automated systems are properly managed and utilized.

LEAN Manufacturing Manager will regularly review processes to help eliminate wastes across fabrication
and finishing operations. As a LEAN Manager you are expected to drive improvement efforts through
preparation and execution of continuous improvement initiatives. You will also help engage the
organization from bottom up to help them understand and adapt a continuous improvement culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead ~125 employees through front line Value Stream Managers and Leads across 2 shifts.
• Ensures products are provided to customers on time so that product quality, yield, operating
costs, and process efficiencies are met.
• Integrate resources to provide support to customers including value streams and cap
equipment maintenance departments.
• Oversee plant capital equipment utilization and upkeep and directly responsible for effective
use of automated systems
• Responsible for driving improvements in manufacturing and product flow throughout the
production process (metal forming, welding, Spot-Welding and Metal Finishing).
• Lead cost reduction initiatives and promote team collaboration.
• Ensure process stability and reduce variability using problem solving methodologies (5-Why,
8D).
• Responsible for driving overall plant production capacity and identify potential opportunities
working in collaboration with all managers and team members
• Collaborate with leaders to execute Gemba walk process (Managing for Daily Improvement),
utilizing and constantly improving the visual management on the shop floor and in the office
areas.
• Coordinate all Lean Manufacturing Activities within the location including kaizen events,
projects and any other activity to improve and further lean efforts and ensure execution of
transformation plan.
• Coach, direct, and promote a culture of continuous improvement utilizing Lean principles (Value
Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Line/Cell Design, Single Piece Flow, Material Flow,
Visual Management, SMED, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc.) driving continuous improvement.
• Mentor and guide facility team members and peers in the understanding, use and
implementation of LEAN principles and tools.
• Through regular contact with VP Operations and Director of Manufacturing and his staff,
participate in planning and/or decision making in matters concerning operational problems,
inventory control, plant policy and maintenance issues and staffing
• Identifies, initiates, and facilitates continuous improvements, lean manufacturing activities and
initiatives, such as 5S, visual management, Kaizans. Works effectively, driving, implementing and
sustaining continuous improvement projects
• Identify, plan and implement automation where applicable to sustain profitability.
• Promotes talent growth by facilitating personnel training aimed to elevate production flexibility.
• Responsible for ensuring the quality and quantity of staffing requirements, budgets, costs,
methods, labor efficiency, scrap, volume, and associated KPIs
• Interfaces with support functions to secure services and resources and regularly interacts with
senior leaders on matters concerning functional areas or customers.
• Optimize the performance of existing manufacturing processes and provide support to
Advanced Mfg. as needed for the development of new manufacturing processes, material and
equipment capabilities.
• Responsible for the development of the VS/Department annual operating budget and
maintains expenses within the plan.

Qualifications
• Ability to manage activities of VS resources of man-power, machines and methods.
• Proven track record of interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interface well with
other VS /departments and lead effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
• In-depth process knowledge of related manufacturing equipment/processes (including
automated systems) and/or operations processes
• Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to respond to detailed inquiries and present information to groups and senior leaders.
• Ability to collect and analyze data and information to determine paths for process improvement
and potential root cause analysis
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Mgmt degree preferred
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing processes
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, managing
automated metal forming and welding systems
• Exceptional knowledge in all areas of sheet metal fabrication and capital equipment maintenance
is required. Proficiency in laser cutting, automated metal forming and automated welding
/Finishing operations is highly desired
• Experience developing an annual operating budget and maintain expenses within the plan
