Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing manufacturing processes and production layouts, documenting procedures, installing and implementing new equipment and evaluating the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for “hands on” leadership of the Lean Continuous Improvements functions within the plant with a key responsibility of analyzing the current manufacturing state and formulating action plans through known Lean techniques that drive increases in productivity, quality and reductions in costs and equipment downtime.
  • Develops, designs and modifies manufacturing methods, test equipment, fixtures and tooling to improve to improve productivity, quality and safety.
  • Performs work flow analysis and lays out facility to maximize safety, output, quality, profitability and efficiency.
  • Implements product design changes, new product introductions
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Manages capital expense budget.
  • Develops work instructions for production processes.
  • Trains employees on new processes and equipment utilization.
  • Review and calculate labor content to set standards to allow proper calculation of production costs.
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
  • Coordinate preventing equipment maintenance and coordinate repair services when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain data collection and performance measurements to track performance.
  • Run kaizen Continuous Improvement sessions.
  • Perform “Lean Assessment”, 5-S, TPS, Culture audits and events
  • Work with other plant personnel to establish cost savings initiatives

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience/Formal Training in Lean manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification/training preferred.
  • Good communication skills (oral and in writing) and the ability to work well with technical and non-technical people are essential.
  • Knowledge of Process flow and value stream layouts
