The Electrical Engineer will:
• Work with project teams to develop designs for power tool electronics and controls that meet the need
of professional technicians.
• Independently manage projects from concept to production balancing user input, function, durability,
schedule and cost.
• Use electrical engineering expertise to provide technical guidance on motor controls, circuitry and test
methods.
• Prepare test plans to validate the proper function of tool / motor controls, displays and communication.
• Help generate product road maps for electronics in power tool products.
• Design and develop electrical circuits, schematics, and printed circuit boards
• Research and select components based on capability, performance, durability, availability, and cost
• Test and troubleshoot electronic assemblies
• Effectively plan and manage your goals
• Generate innovative solutions
• Contribute to multiple, concurrent, multi-disciplinary project teams
• Prepare business presentations and technical documentation
• Effectively communicate with team members, managers, and suppliers
Requirements
• BSEE
• Recent graduate with internship to three years product development experience
• Demonstrated skills in the design of power electronics and motor control
• Skilled in computer simulation of electrical circuits
• Understands complimentary technical disciplines, software and mechanical
• Knows government / regulatory agency approval processes is a plus
• Experience with lithium-ion batteries and chargers is a plus
• Proficient in soldering, including SMT soldering and rework
Familiar with:
• Measuring equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQ’s, thermal cameras, etc.
• Programmable DC power supplies and loads
• Motor testing equipment including dynamometers, brakes, tachometers, transducers, etc.
• Soldering irons and reflow equipment
• ECAD software, preferably experience with Altium Designer and Altium 365
• Simulation software
• Microsoft Office
• C programming language, C++ and/or Python are a plus
